Stitch House

Stitch House renovates an abandoned townhouse in Gowanus Brooklyn into a two-family home for a local couple looking to downsize.

Luxurious dark toned bricks were used to revitalize this existing townhouse facade. The subtle sheen radiating off of the bricks are enhanced by the coal trim at the windows and new contemporary cornice. A muted palette brings focus to the resident’s collection of artwork. Custom millwork allowed the small spaces typically found in a Brooklyn townhouse to become open spaces to cook and entertain. Built-in closets, storage, and lighting allows the resident to keep their possessions organized and out of sight.

Millwork entwined with structural enhancements to the original building stitch together elements of repair create quiet moments of introspection, bringing focus to the craftsmanship that gave this 180-year-old structure new life, while catering to the clients’ needs and daily routines.
